The perfect place to chill out with friends over cocktails and tapas, this Mediterranean bar has an atmosphere that will put you in a holiday mood even in the winter.

The Venue
Located on a busy corner of Charminster Road, the huge patio windows of Sebis dominate the street. These windows create an airy, summery atmosphere, especially when they’re opened up on hot days. Combine this with the bamboo furniture, Latin music and vines climbing the walls, and you’ll feel like you’re in a holiday resort as soon as you enter the bar.

Although Sebis is spacious, Friday and Saturday nights can feel cramped, especially if you're sitting in the restaurant section. This is situated at the far end of the bar, which gives enough room on weeknights, but the lack of any real partition could get a little irritating if you’re trying to have a quiet meal when the bar is buzzing.

The People
Staff are prompt and efficient, and are usually eager to please with complimentary crisps or other such nibbles. You never have to wait long at the bar, even when they’re busy.

The clientele here is a mix of ages, from after-work drinkers at the bar to families eating in the restaurant. Dress is casual, and there’s a general laidback holiday atmosphere. Friday and Saturday nights are dressier though, as the bar becomes more of a party venue than a casual meeting place.

The Food
Sebis has a Mediterranean-themed menu, with a good choice of tapas, pasta, fish, and meat dishes, as well as baguettes. Main meals range from £6.50 for pesto pasta to £16.95 for king prawns. There is a choice of sirloin steaks for £13.95 and various tapas ranging from £2.95 to £6.95. Portions are generous and the food is fresh and full of flavour.

The Drink
There is a wide range of cocktails, all at £6 and mixed at the bar while you wait. Glasses of wine are around £3, and bottles range from £11.50 to £29.95. There are a few brands of the popular bottled and draught beers, such as Becks and Stella, for around £3.20 for a pint but there’s not a great deal of choice. However, there is the extensive selection of spirits that you would expect to see in any cocktail bar.

The Last Word
Sebis is a great all-rounder and has something to suit most tastes, with quiet afternoons and a buzzing vibe at weekends. It can get a little too busy though, but the atmosphere and the delicious food make it worth a visit.
