I would tend to agree with David1972a.
I am new to the area yet during some house hunting expeditions have found myself in need of refreshment in the Penn Hill area and have ended up at Penn Hill Central about 3 times now. Immediately on entering the place it has a great feel about it, however it didn't take long for me to see the lack of hygiene and staff. It was not at all busy, yet tables, chairs, sofa's, floors etc. were dirty and the remnants of those-who-had-dined-before was everywhere to be seen. The menu has a good choice, however ordering of the food on my last visit was a disaster. I stood at the bar with not one member of staff in sight - 2/3pm. I stood and waited and waited and continued to see crumbs and smears and empty glasses and plates all over the place. 5 whole minutes of waiting later, I saw a person appear at the rear of the bar - she looked up, looked straight through me and continued texting.... I continued waiting for some minutes, she saw me, stopped texting and said that she was sorry, she hadn't noticed me there. I made it very clear that I was not happy that she was texting when she should be working. (Probably had my food spat in for that comment). She was also not from these shores - that is not the issue here as many eastern-Europeans in these jobs are generally quite lovely. It would seem this place could be a little goldmine, but lacks customer care, satisfaction and some good old-fashioned respect - in such a respectful area as well. Astonishing. Ladies WC's no better than the Gents, I can assure you, certainly not to my standard and in need of lots more attention than they currently get. Not clean enough, locks that don't work, no soap, inadequate dryer - just about enough loo roll, that sort of thing. Come on someone - this place could really be a great place to eat and drink, for the local affluent people. There must be some entrepreneur out there that could turn this place in to a very desirable & successful venue - Report
