A little French patisserie with a host of dainty sweet goodies that's a great place for a coffee, a chat and a cake.

The Venue
The cosy warmth of this cafe hits you as soon as you go through the door. The smell of sweet treats wafts into your nostrils and gets your taste buds flowing.

The simple yellow walls create a bright cafe with functional wooden tables and chairs to seat hungry customers. There are flashes of colour from the quaint French coffee adverts and watercolours showing off the side streets of Paris.

The cake counter itself is a work of art with lots of little slices of various tarts, biscuits, gateaux and pastries of many different colours, shapes and sizes.

The People
La Creme Brulee has a friendly, gentle atmosphere where everyone quietly gets on with reading their paper or having a quick chat over coffee, while speaking through mouthfuls of eclairs.

There’s nothing particularly exciting going on, but the peaceful, intimate feel of this cafe suits the older crowd exceptionally well as there’s none of the hectic chaos of the town centre.

The Food
All of the patisserie’s stock is prepared and baked on the premises that day. To give you a completely French experience the food is made by a French patisserie chef and served by a French waitress. The prices of the delectable cakes range from £1 to £3.

The mini chocolate eclair is a small burst of rich chocolate sweetness that’s great teamed with a hot drink. For something fruitier try the strawberry tart, with delicious fresh strawberries and rich cream.

And of course there are many other sweet delicacies that are worth trying, and none of them are too sweet or sickly. There are also baguettes, croissants and panini available if you prefer savoury to sweet.

The Drink
The hot beverages are cheap at £1 to £1.80. Good quality freshly ground coffee is used for the various coffees, and of course classic earl grey and English breakfast tea is available.

The Last Word
La Creme Brulee is heaven for seaside visitors who want a quality cake and coffee break in an elegantly understated environment.
