The ViewBournemouth Review
Bar Vin doesn’t have much style, but it's casual, and for those who want to avoid the drunken lager louts of Bournemouth's usual pub crawl this is a popular spot for a friendly drink. The VenueBar Vin, one of many bars along Christchurch Street, has a simple tried and tested formula that seems to work well in bars across Bournemouth. The decor is contemporary but functional, with warm reds and browns to keep the tone cosy and comfortable.
Plenty of basic, rigid wooden tables, chairs and a few sofas dotted around ensure everyone has a comfy seat and no one has to stand around the bar for long.
It has a large, open-plan structure with the long bar at the back to avoid it getting in the way. Lively music plays on the sound system, while the bar staff are happy to have a friendly chat, and they're also very quick to serve.
The PeopleBar Vin had a bit of a dodgy reputation and seemed to be popular with drunken youths who liked getting into fights and generally causing trouble, and this sort of behaviour obviously turned many customers away. However, they’ve sorted themselves out and now cater to a more mature after-work drinker who wants to relax with mates without any hassle.
The vibe is friendly and familiar and the crowd who come here aren't trying to look cool or get plastered. This isn’t the place to come for a party as customers are looking more to unwind than to liven up their night, so a leisurely drink is ideal here.
The DrinkDon’t be confused by the name - wine isn’t particularly pushed in this bar. Beer and ale are their popular drinks with a selection including London Pride, Abbots Ale and Ringwood on tap for just under £3 a pint.
Bottles include Carling, Fosters and Stella for those who prefer beer over ale. Surprisingly there is a limited but varied cocktail list, covering most of the well-known classics for only £4, which can add a fun edge to your evening.
Shooters are also good value for £2.05 for the mixed range, but for something simpler the spirits are basic but affordable at £2 a measure.
The Last WordIt may feel like you’ve been here before as the atmosphere and decor feels all too familiar, but this bar isn’t a bad place for a relaxed drink.
