Having recently visited the Beehive Hotel as part of a small party and I thought I would share my thoughts. The location is good and both the internal and external parts of this hotel are all very nice. The hotel is let down by its food. The food there is terrible. Burgers & steak rubbery, mash potato microwaved and then mashed though leaving part cooked whole parts of potato in the mash. The lamb shank came straight from one of those quick to serve boil in the bag combos which includes the sauce and the supposed home made pies simply had gravy and very little meat and in honesty probably were not home made at all as they all looked too identical to be homemade!! The fried squid starter portions are tiny when you think your paying over £5 for this starter. Will not be visiting again until I hear that they've either sacked the chef or revamped the food. It is so simply these day to provide great food in a commercial environment that hasn't come from a packet, tough unfortunately I feel 90% of the food that was served came straight from the freezer. If you want to know what the food is like, think of a travel lodge with a small kitchen attached and your almost there, Ive had better food at a roadside cafe!! The reviews that state the food is good, I can only assume were written by staff members as unfortunatly they do not tell the whole story. Its annoying because this hotel could really do well if it got its menu right.

We have visited the New Beehive 4 times since it opened and have enjoyed our meal each time, being excellent value for money. We have visited on our own and together with visitors from overseas and have found the staff helpful and very tuned in to our needs - especially when we had a very elderly friend with us who needed a higher chair in order for her to be comfortable. Congratulations and good luck for the future.

We went there not long after it had opened.....Hopefully they have improved since then, as our experience was truly awful!! We started with the pint of prawns - which they'd obviously forgotten to defrost - hence we got a solid wedge of frozen prawns in a pint mug - which we sent back - no apology received from the staff re this. Myself and my daughter in law had ordered the hamburgers as our main course. The hamburgers made eating rubber tyres look like easy work - needless to say we gave up on trying to chew our way through them and asked for the bill..... The staff then tried to charge us for the frozen prawns that we'd returned....!! We definitely won't be eating there again - there are far better places to eat in the area!
