I was really surprised to see such a bad review, so I thought I'd share my experience of Bombay Night.
Since I moved to New Milton over a year ago, I have been a regular to Bombay Night, both eating in and take away. The food is high quality and always expertly cooked. I've always found the staff to be friendly and make you feel welcome too.
Overall, I must have eaten there 20 times, sometimes in a large group and sometimes just with my fiancee and I've never had a bad experience.
We visited this restaurant as part of a group of ten on the Saturday of the August bank holiday weekend, 2009.
When we arrived at the venue we found it to be decorated very tastefully and the restaurant area was clean and contempory in style. Unfortunately, thats where the praise ends as this restaurant then gave us and many other customers a horrendous evening.
The place was understaffed and we waited 50 minutes to get our drinks and poppadoms despite asking for them on numerous occassions.
The waiters were very rude and seemed to not to really care about any of our comments even though we had waited so long for our appetisers/starters. We then had our main courses brought out to us after 1 hour and 45 minutes of waiting!
This would have been bad enough on its own but the fact it all came out stone COLD was another matter we had to deal with. When this happened the waiter took all of the ten dishes away and said he would get us new ones.
Within 5 mins he was bringing the curries out on the same plates we had given him back on and said these should now be warmer. He had committed the crime of just placing all the dishes in the microwave to heat them up a bit.
We joked that if we wanted microwaveable curry then we could have all got one from Sainsbury's. The heated up curries were disgusting and none of us could eat them because they lacked heat and quality. The next bit of this review absolutely disgusted me...if you are thinking of using this restaurant then be warned DON'T!
When we complained to the owner/Mgr he was so rude and despite accepting he had overbooked the restaurant he thought we were being unreasonable waiting only 1 hr 45 mins and suggested that the curry was up to standard and we should pay for it all (even though we didn't eat it!)
The fact that the owner started to talk to us in a really abrupt and rude manner made me understand why his waiters also lack
