Win 3 Pairs of tickets for Norman Jay's Official Good Times Carnival Warm Up Party

Closing: 27/08/2009
Win one of three pairs of Tickets for Norman Jay's office Good Times Canrnival Warm Up Party! The August bank holiday weekend has always had a special place in our hearts. We love long weekends anyway, but Notting Hill Carnival really makes this one our favourite.

And apart from getting our jerk chicken fix, we go to carnival for more or less one thing – Norman Jays Good Times soundsystem.

A regular feature at the carnival for more than 25 years, Norman Jay helped open up the carnival to a multi-cultural audience and offered an alternative to the bass heavy reggae of the 1970s.

He influenced a generation with his seminal ‘warehouse’ parties of the early 80s, helped transform Kiss FM from pirate to legal broadcaster and went on to host a critically acclaimed Radio One show, which for us, is up there with the likes of John Peels legendary sessions.

For almost ten years, Norman has hosted a pre-party at Plan B in Brixton the night before. It’s an opportunity to test drive tracks for the next day and to reconnect with his London fans in an intimate environment before the estimated 10,000 people who come to see him at carnival.

As most of you should know by now, Plan B has been closed since May 2009 following a fire at the venue. We have big plans for later in the year, but in the meantime are going back to our roots with a party in a secret location somewhere in SW9. We have secured a huge Funktion One soundsystem, a well stocked bar and a late licence.

Very limited advance tickets are on sale now and details of the location will be announced a few days before the bank holiday weekend.
