Christmas comes early to Sandown Park Racecourse

Closing: 04/12/2008
Traditional Horse and Sleigh rides will greet racegoers from the train station to transport them up to the racecourse to join in the festive fun and be welcomed by Father Christmas and his merry Sandown Park helpers! Walking into winter wonderland, carols will be echoing across the main entrance along with a complimentary mince pie on arrival.

For the children, there is a chance to visit Santa in his Grotto where all young visitors will be able to choose a gift from the Lucky Dip and make their final Christmas gift wish and don't forget children under 16 get in for free (accompanied by an adult) and the crèche is free too! Childhood favourite characters from the famous Raymond Brigg's books will be flying in for an appearance on the Saturday - The Snowman along with Raymond's famous Father Christmas character will be present.

As a special Christmas present, the racecourse has teamed up with Seasons Holiday to offer a family of four the chance to win a luxurious week's holiday plus flights to Lapland! Entry forms will be given to racegoers on arrival and are to be dropped in the white posting boxes situated around the racecourse. This really is a holiday of a lifetime and a chance for your children to visit the real Father Christmas!

For the first time the racecourse will have its own ice rink, which will be located in Esher Hall. It will be on synthetic ice called Viking Ice and has been used for a promotional piece for Dancing On Ice and is the only synthetic ice that the professional ice skater Robin Cousins will skate on. The ice rink is free to use and all the kit you will need will be provided.

Racegoers can also squeeze in some early Christmas shopping with a variety of Christmas gift stands dotted around the racecourse. KP Equestrian, created by Katie Price will be selling a range of her latest clothing range and horse accessories which is for all ages and sizes, the horsey and the non-horsey. It's fashionable and stylish but at the same time functional and wearable. 'Wow Toys' will have a play area for the young children with games and colouring in competitions, gifts can be purchased from 'Susie Q beaded jewellery' and for those loveable pets visit the 'Reg and Ruby' stand. If your feeling a bit peckish there will be stand called 'Christmas Cakes' selling a variety of Christmas goodies and if you want to treat your children to some hand-painted furniture, visit 'Tiny Tiger' and for gifts for the home - 'Yu Tiger'. What better way to start the countdown to Christmas!

At the end of the day, racegoers will have the chance to listen and join in singing some festive Christmas Carols with the 'New London Singers', one of London's premier vocal ensembles and conducted by the legendary Ivor Settlefield. They have performed at many top London Venues and have won multiple prizes in national and international competitions – it is recommended highly that racegoers stay behind to listen to and join in with this amazing vocal ensemble.

The Tingle Creek weekend is widely credited as one of the racing calendar's top events and the demanding Sandown Park course attracts many of the very best horses and jockeys.

So come and share the magic of the Festive Season with your family and friends, enjoy the family fun entertainment on offer and it is suitable not only for parents and grandparents but the tiny tots too!
